The yard has an intrinsic launch capability to handle from a single system panamax size vessels to Cape size. This provides phenomenal flexibility in that as long as hull constructions can be managed, launching of vessels is not an issue.
The 680x65 m wet basin is being converted in the first phase to a dry dock 460x65 m. this should address the total requirements of building VLCCs. Thus, the yard has two independent launch systems to meet the requirements of outing the entire system of ships, to sea.
Car carriers would be developed as a niche product. The yard possesses the complete design for a 6,700 PCTC (Pure Car and Transport Carrier) based on the CSR concepts. Be that as it may, there are no limitations on the kind of vessels that could be built at Pipavav Shipyard.
